High-performance Wire-speed Switching

The ONU-2024-21 managed Layer-2 Fast Ethernet switch is a high-performance edge connectivity solution. Based on a non-blocking 8.8Gbps switching architecture, the ONU-2024-21 provides 24-port 10/100Mbps Layer 2 switching capacity at wire-speed over existing CAT-5 cabling to subscribers. Its single dual-personality interface (RJ-45 or SFP) delivers Gigabit connectivity to long-loop reach and high bandwidth applications with cascading topology.

High-Security Network Edge

The ONU-2024-21 features wide-range security functions to prevent unauthorized data access. The supported 802.1x authentication restricts unauthorized user from accessing legitimate user data and administrative features. Through the cooperation with ZyXEL's RADIUS feature, advanced access control can be implemented by verifying user names and passwords for offering converged network services to both wired and wireless clients. Besides authentication protection, the ONU-2024-21 supports mechanisms including MAC filtering, MAC freezing and specific MAC forwarding that allow network administrators to set security policies according to device MAC addresses. The ONU-2024-21 is designed to offer comprehensive security features for enforcing security policies to the edge.

Intelligent Traffic Prioritization for Multiple Services

Multiple priority queues and the scheduling mechanism enable the ONU-2024-21 to easily perform traffic prioritizing for delay-service applications. Users can also customize DSCP settings to provide an end-to-end QoS environment. MVR ensures efficient transmission of multicasting streams on the network-wide multicast VLAN. For bandwidth management, the ONU-2024-21 supports 64kbps bandwidth increments to give different bandwidth allocations. With the broadcast storm control feature, network broadcast packets can be limited, in case the predefined threshold is surpassed, to prevent accidental network outage.
